Hello Kitty Cafe Has a Special Secret
Irvine Spectrum Center’s Hello Kitty Grand Cafe is the latest evolution of the Hello Kitty Cafe experience and the first cafe of its kind in the U.S., offering an expanded menu featuring freshly baked cakes, cookies, donuts, seasonal goodies, and handmade hot and iced drinks, along with a selection of Hello Kitty Cafe merchandise and a sweet seating area to enjoy the experience.
The owners of the Hello Kitty Café, Urania and Charlie Chien, began their Hello Kitty food journey with a food truck. They enlisted the help of their friend, Allen Tea, whose family owns Capitol Seafood in Irvine Spectrum Center.
The food truck was wildly successful and led the owners to open the country’s only Hello Kitty Grand Café at the Irvine Spectrum Center in 2018.
But here’s the secret…
Behind the pink door, guests find the one-of-a-kind The Bow Room at Hello Kitty Grand Cafe, which serves high tea during daylight hours. Once the clock strikes 5 p.m., the pink palace turns into a 21+ cocktail lounge – a modern-day speakeasy, of sorts.
Whether you plan on sipping tea with Hello Kitty-shaped sugars or cocktails like the Matcha Matcha, which includes Japanese whiskey, it’s a unique location to bring your friends. Afternoon Tea and evening Cocktail Service are offered via reservation at The Bow Room at Hello Kitty Grand Cafe.
