“Top Gun: Maverick” took flight earlier this summer weekend, with Irvine Spectrum Center’s Regal Theater earning the top performing spot in the country for the much-anticipated film’s opening!

Shoppers and moviegoers enjoyed a special celebration at the Spectrum, including a fighter jet prop, a photo booth, interactive games, and more. A “Maverick” impersonator arrived to delight guests with photo opportunities, making opening day special for old and new fans alike.

The expectations for the sequel to a beloved 36-year-old film meant that stakes were high, but “Top Gun: Maverick” broke through all barriers with a box office total of $205.6M during its first week.

Movie fanatics and Spectrum patrons were not shy about expressing their excitement on social media. Colleen W. said on Facebook, “I’ll go again. Goose bumps and adrenaline rush from my theater seat!”
